The annual Kilmacud Crokes Hurling Section Golf Classic took place in glorious sunshine in the lovely surrounds of Bray Golf Club on Thursday June 25th. 22 teams teed off from 12.00 to 4pm in perfect conditions that allowed for some big scores. The winning team, captained by Pat Fenlon and sponsored by ESB Customer Supply, came in with a great score of 93 points. There was a strong Wexford connection on the winning team with former Wexford hurlers Paul Nolan and Martin Byrne making up the team along with Joe O'Mahoney. Brian Murphy's team with the big man himself, Clare legend Jamsie O'Connor, Vinny Farrell and Raymond Leonard were pipped by a point for the top spot. In third place on 88 points came the Allen Engineering sponsored "A" team of Des Bray, John Manning, Sean Jones and Sean Ryan. Despite the great scores posted the biggest cheer of the night was reserved for Vinnie Farrell who won the nearest the pin prize of a years free hairdressing in Reds Hair Salon. It is rumoured that Reds may also extend he offer to cover Vinnie's brother Cyril.
