Intermediates Draw v St Brigid's
An injury depleted Crokes team battled to a hard fought draw against St. Brigids. Played on the all weather pitch in St Brigids and refereed by All Ireland referee Aodhan MacSuibhne, Crokes went into an early lead but after a succession of points from St Brigids, seemed in real trouble. Excellent defensive work, led by man of the match Ronan Walsh at half back with great assistance from Joe O'Reilly, Conor Sheehan and Richie Sweetnam, kept Crokes in the frame. A breakaway goal ten minutes from half time brought Crokes back into the game and down one point at half time.
Both teams increased the tempo in the second half and despite conceding an early goal, Crokes again fought back with an excellent goal from Brian Sheehan. The team traded points over the last fifteen minutes and in the end neither team deserved to lose. Crokes had excellent performances from an under pressure backline with Ronan Walsh particularly prominent. In attack, the returning John Barry had an excellent second half. Final score: Crokes 2-6 St. Brigids 1-9.
