Junior B's lose narrowly in the Championship
Junior B's lose narrowly in the Championship - Thurs June 5th
After losing their first match by a point, the Junior B's were again unlucky not to come away with something from a highly entertaining and well contested championship game on Thursday against Scoil Ui Chonaill on Clontarf. This time they were on the wrong end of a 3-10 to 1-13 scoreline. Despite an early goal for Scoil the half was evenly contested with good 'Crokes points from from Conor Sheehan (2 (1f)), Niall Butler (4 (3f)) and Collie Maher (1) left us 2 points behind at the break, 1-6 to 0-7.
The second half was more of the same. The deficit was pegged back to a point soon after the re-start by a Butler free. Scoil responded in kind. It was see-saw for 15 minutes when 'Crokes got level through a good Conor Sheehan point from the left. Then Scoil went a point ahead and follow up with a goal. Butler responded in kind with a good finish after good work from Dave Stafford. Scoil went 2 ahead and Maher pulled one pack from the right. The crucial score came 3 minutes from the end when Scoil scored a goal with a great shot from 25 yards, putting them 4 up. Butler pointed 2 frees but despite huge pressure on the Scoil goal the vital goal did not come. Scoil pointed at the death to win by 3. Best for 'Crokes were Niall Hall, Conor Sheehan, John Ross Hunt and Niall Butler.
