On Saturday 4th April Crokes played an away league game against their close neighbours Naomh Olafs. This was the proverbial game of two halves. Conditions were fine with a strong cross field breeze favouring Crokes in the first half. Crokes started off strongly and rushed into a 0-5 to 0-0 lead. A Matthew Redmond goal added to Crokes 1st half tally but two crucial quick-fire goals against the run of play by Olafs before the break were a warning of what was to come. Crokes totally dominated the 1st half and led 1-5 to 2-0 at half time but in truth should have been much further ahead. With the wind in their favour Naomh Olafs started the second half brightly with 2 quick fire long range goals. Despite strong performances from midfield pairing Cillian O’Shea and Niall Sweeney (prior to going off with injury) the Olafs tide overpowered Crokes who failed to score in the second half. The full time score was 8-4 to 1-5, in the end a fully deserved victory by Olafs on this occasion.
