U14s beat Boden
Back from their travels to Holy Cross last week, Crokes faced local rivals Ballyboden St Endas in this U14s Division 1 clash at Silverpark on Saturday 4 April. On a deceptively cold afternoon, Crokes took their time to warm up in this tough, physical encounter. Playing with the aid of a strong wind in the first half Boden were dominant in a number of areas and scored six points, while the Crokes lads landed three points from M O Loughlin [free], D O Gallchobhair and S. Faughey.
After passionate speeches at half time from Tom, Gearóid and Niall Corcoran the boys took their positions hoping to use the strong wind to their advantage in the second half. Crokes came more into the game, as the forwards, now supplied with more ball, began to slot home the scores; with the in form S Bedford clocking up a goal and a point. Half back D. O Murchú made a lovely run and scored a stylish point. A second goal was then netted by S Bedford. Crokes now 2-05 to Boden 0-08 with about ten minutes to go. Crokes finished with a flourish of points from C.Mac Gabhann 2 [1f] , D. Keane and a fine point from sub R Conlon. The final whistle blew, players and mentors satisfied with the final score of 2-10 to 0-08. This was a good team effort and an excellent game played by two of the strongest teams in Dublin, much appreciated by the large number of spectators and visitors.
