U10’s travel to Cloughbawn GAA

Body

Under clear blue skies, the under 10’s set off for Clougbawn GAA last Sunday morning for a challenge game which had been kindly arranged by Peter Kenny along with Jim Doyle from the Wexford club.

It once again proved the proverbial “game of two halves” for the U10’s. The local lads built up a substantial first half lead with the assistance of a stiff breeze and the fielding of a number of overage players by agreement. However the Crokes lads came roaring back in the second half with a stream of goals and points and their great effort fell just short at whistle with a final score of 8-1 to 6-2 in favour of the Wexford boys.

This was a very enjoyable outing for the travelling party of players, mentors, parents and siblings who were greatly impressed by the impressive pitches, clubhouse and facilities of the host club. We would like to express our thanks to the managers (PJ Dempsey & Syl Murphy) and parents of Cloughbawn for their wonderful hospitality and look forward to a return visit later in the year.
