U13 League Top 5 - Crokes 2-7, St Vincents 2-4
In what was a dour and physical first half Crokes trailed 3 pts to 2 with our points coming from Shane and a free from Eamonn.
Our defence/midfield held tight while our forwards failed to convert many scoreable chances
After a stern half –time talk from the mentors , Crokes upped their game and there was a big improvement in the forwards with Des Dagg (introduced) driving Crokes forward and Mikey, Shane and
Conor getting more involved. Two goals from Shane and points from Mikey left us 6 points up entering injury time
A late consolation goal left just one score in it at the end
While this was a below par display, the team showed great character in grinding out a result against a good physical team. It also shows nothing will be easy in any of the top 5 games
Once again Tagdh pulled off some great saves and improves with each game
The defence of Mark, Ryan, Eoin, Peter, Eamonn and Lorcan were solid throughout and held Vincents to 6 scores over the 60 minutes
Sean C and Sean K supplied some great ball to the forwards. Tom Duke also played very well when moved to this sector late in the game
The forwards after a slow start played much better in the second half with Mikey, Shane, Conor, Ronan, Adam and subs Barney and Cian all having their moments
Des as mentioned added some momentum to the attack when introduced.
