South Dublin Colleges fall to CBS Kilkenny in close Leinster Semi

The combined colleges team of South Dublin travelled to Dicksboro on 28 April 2010 to take on CBS Kilkenny in the Leinster Schools Juvenile A Semi Final. South Dublin Colleges included a number of Kilmacud Crokes, Coláiste Eoin, Oatlands College and Benildus College players.
Kilkenny notched up the first two scores of the match, before South Dublin got their first over, as they settled to their task. After a tight first half Kilkenny finished 0-07 to 0-04 to the good, Dublin’s scores coming from Rob O hEachrain, Dara Ó Gallchobhair and Fionn O Riain-Broin.
The second half was a much livelier affair. Both sides swapped points until midway through the half, when O’Riain-Broin of Coláiste Eoin scored a fine goal, after some excellent passing movements. Another point by South Dublin brought the teams level. However, Kilkenny quickly pointed and then netted to draw clear by four points again. South Dublin fought back valiantly and had a number of scoring chances thwarted by some excellent Kilkenny goalkeeping. The Blues might have been awarded a late penalty, for an apparent goalmouth pickup, but were only awarded a 65 instead.
