Under 13's Bank Holiday Trip To Wexford

Body

The U13s had a very useful run out against the Oulart the Ballagh U14s on Bank Holiday Monday, 3rd May 2010, in Oulart.

A very positive aspect of this game was the scoring of 12 points from play by 5 different forwards against physically strong opponents. After playing into a fresh breeze Crokes were not too unhappy to go in at half time 4-6 to 1-7 down, Fergal Whitely's goal just deserts after a spell of sustained pressure just before the whistle. Fiachra O'Connor had opened the scoring early on, Conor O'Dwyer had chipped in with 2 from play and one free while Whitely had 3 points to his credit before adding the goal. In defence Fiachra Tucker was playing the centre back position well while Darragh Butler was having his usual stormer at 3.

If anything the half time whistle halted the 'Crokes lads' momentum and Oulart started the 2nd half better. In the first 15 minutes of the second half 3 points were posted by each team, Crokes scores coming from Conor O'Dwyer, Stevie O'Dwyer, O'Connor. A goal was needed to bring Crokes back to within striking distance but unfortunately is was Oulart who raised the next green flag. Crokes battled gamely and Whitely and Tuck responded immediately with points. Oulart goaled soon after but Crokes again fought on. Whitely goaled from long range and Tuck and O'Connor raised white flags to leave 9 points in it at the finish. Others to shine were Conor McNicholas and Brian Grogan.
