Juniors E's Maintain Championship Progress
The Junior E’s continued their good championship run with a 1-13 to 1-10 win over Raheny in their Group A clash at Silverpark on Thursday evening 22nd July 2010.
On a pleasant but overcast evening, and on a good sod, Crokes got an early boost with a goal from Fionan Motherway. They continued to clip along nicely until the visitors took the lead with a major on seventeen minutes – 1-4 to 1-3. Three points left it 1-6 to 1-4 in the winner’s favour at the short whistle.
On the restart it was Raheny’s turn to record three unanswered minors and lead by the minimum, 1-7 to 1-6. A forty third minute over levelled. Raheny hit the front again and then the Kilmacud side overtook them with three scores. In the fiftieth minute Raheny got one back. Crokes replied in kind to stretch the lead. The northsiders again split the posts to make it 1-11 to 1-10. That was to be their last score. In the fifty sixth minute a Shane O’Keeffe free doubled the Crokes advantage. Raheny missed a simple 20 metre free. Emmet Doherty won the puck out and was fouled. Shane O’Keeffe made it 1-13 to 1-10 - his fourth point from a placed ball out a total of six. In the remaining time each side had a goal chance. Neither availed of the opportunity and Crokes claimed the points.
Apart from those mentioned above goalkeeper Hugh Liston, full back Mark Regan and corner forward Nico Salvino were to the fore for the victors.
