On Saturday 18th September 2010 the Kilmacud Crokes intermediate hurlers suffered their first championship defeat of 2010 when going down by 0-10 to 0-8 against Setanta in Ballymun. The result does not affect Crokes advancement to the knock out stages but denies them the group top spot.
Correspondent Mick Hynes reports 'This was a disappointing performance from Crokes. Only our backs came out of this game with any credilibity. We just couldn't get the all important break-through which would have given us victory although Barry Mulligan had a great opportunity which just went over the bar in the dying seconds. However we are in the quarter final of the Championship due to take place on Sept 29th with opposition and venue still to be decided. The score at half-time was was 4 points to 2 in favour of Setanta. Best for Crokes were Dave Canny, Declan Browne, Brian Hanamy, Ray Mangan, and Alan Carr. Shane McNicholas tried very hard up front but our attack generally lacked real penetration.'
