Under 9 Hurlers – Festival of Hurling.
Week three of the Festival of Hurling. On Sunday 17th October 2010 it was the turn of the Under 9’s to host some of our friends from around the county and country.
On a lovely Autumn day two competitions were run both comprising six teams each. In the A competition Group 1 Crokes had fine wins over Na Fianna (Dublin) and Sarsfields (Cork) to qualify for the final. On the opposite side of the draw Group 2, James Stephens (Kilkenny) recorded wins over Erins Own (Kilkenny) and Naomh Eanna (Wexford) to progress to a final meeting with Crokes.
The final was a game of two halves with the Village lads taking a commanding 1-03 to 0-00 half time lead. In the second half Crokes produced a superb comeback to outscore their opponents 3-01 to 0-00 and take the honours on a final score of Kilmacud Crokes 3-01 James Stephens 1-03.
In the A Shield Final Erins Own (Kilkenny) defeated Sarsfields (Cork) 2-02 to 0-01. The A Plate Final was contested by Naomh Eanna (Wexford) and Na Fianna (Dublin) with the Wexfords lads edging out their opponents 2-01 to 1-01.
The B competition Group 1 saw Bray Emmets (Wicklow) progress to the final with wins over Crokes 2 and Na Fianna 2. Group 2 was topped by Faughs (Dublin) followings wins over Crokes 3 and Ballyboden. In the final Faughs got the better of their opponents and ran out winners on a score of 2-02 to 0-00.
The B Shield Final saw Crokes 3 winners over Na Fianna 2 in a low scoring game 0-01 to 0-00. The B Plate Final went to Ballyboden who defeated Crokes 2 by 1-00 to 0-01.

We would also like to thank all the clubs who travelled to Glenalbyn to contribute to a super day of hurling.
