Body

The Kilmacud Crokes U13's third team travelled deep into North County Dublin to play a title decider against Wild Geese in Oldtown. The final game in the league left the home team having to win to secure a play-off against table toppers Crokes.

Crokes started well with a stalwart back-line anchored by Louis De Courcy, Ciaran Hennessy and Conor Walsh and solid work from Michael Frawley and Sean Dunbar in midfield providing the scoring opportunity for forwards Conn O'Cleirigh (2-1) and Sean Gorman (1-0). Michael Frawley (1-03) opened his own acoount with a free and added 2 more in addition to a long range looping shot which evaded the goalie. Conall Keane worked tirelessly in the half forward line and secured (1-1). Good work from Barry Hudson in goal and sterling defence kept Wild Geese scoreless at half time.

Playing with the aid of a stronger wind in the second half Wild Geese asserted themselves and opened their account with 3 points. Crokes battled hard and excellent work from Hugh Campion, Daithi Sutlan and Darragh Kennedy in the half back line and half forwards Joey Dalton and Rory Malone helped corner forward Daniel Keegan (1-0) find the net ensuring the whole forward line had their name on the score sheet. A free from Michael Frawley (0-1) was the only other Crokes score in a much more closely contest second half.

At the final whistle Crokes wound up worthy 6-6 winners to Wild Geese's 0-3.

Congratulations to all who played and the Division 5 League title is full vindication for the decision to maintain a third team and guarantee competitve action for the entire U13 panel of 40 plus kids. Thanks also to all the assistance from the U12 players and mentors throughout the season.
