U14B: Kilmacud Crokes 4-3 Naomh Olafs 4-6

Body

The final division 3 league of the season for the U14Bs was held on our home turf at Glenalbyn on Sun morning. Olafs were well fired up after the one sided Crokes win in June this year and dominated possession around the middle in the 1st half to deservedly lead 2-5 to 2-1 at the interval. The second half was an excellent outing with both teams competing intensely. Crokes started to get the upper hand and the injured Syed Rizvi lead the way at full forward, notching up a hat-trick of goals to give the lead to the home side for the 1st time – by a margin of two points. This was to be short lived with Olafs notching two goals of their own in quick succession to lead by 4 points with 7 or 8 mins to go. Crokes dominated possession from here on and earned a number of near in frees but on day could not convert. The result was disappointing but the second half performance was excellent. Apart from Syed, captain for the day Andrew Aherne at midfield lead by example. Special mention to Liam Lundon & John McDonald who made their U14 hurling debuts and performed well. Final score Crokes 4-3 Olafs 4-6
