U15's brave the cold to take on seniors
The Under 15's took on their illustrious seniors (parents, not the Senior team!) in a much anticipated end-of-season clash in the Paddock on Sunday 19 December. Despite overnight snow and treacherous roads there was a large turnout for what promised to be the grudge match of the year, following the epic battle of the 'heavyweights' last year!
This was a match of one half, as most of the parents were too shattered to come out for the second half! This was partly due to the referee inexplicably playing almost 35 minutes of injury time in the first half.
This talented team (the U15's, not their parents!) have had occasion in the past to bemoan some questionable referee decisions. This match turned out to be no different as, time and again, the obviously biased man-in-the-middle attempted to score for the parents. There were many raised eyebrows as he also awarded frees against the younger team for various misdemeanors new to the hurling code, including offside, handball, corners, an attempted scrum and raising eyebrows in the general direction of the official!
