Junior E's Score AHL8 Double

Body

The Junior E’s continued their good AHL8 league form this week with two good wins away to Civil Service on Tuesday evening 5th July and home to Crumlin on Friday evening 8th July 2011.

Tuesday evening saw the team travel to Islandbridge to play an experienced Civil Service side. Crokes started very well with three early goals coming from Paddy Tighe and Shane O’Keeffe. An excellent first half from debutant David Beagon and great play from Ciaran McGrath saw Crokes go into half time leading by 12 points. A spirited fight back from Civil Service saw them reduce the distance significantly.  However, another goal from hat trick hero Paddy Tighe and some great points from Ciaran McGrath and James Byrne saw Crokes restore their advantage and take the game 4–10 to 1-10.

Crokes continued their fine form into the game with Crumlin on Friday evening in Silverpark. Although missing many regulars Crokes still fielded a strong team with the help of some excellent minors. It was a tough game with Crumlin putting up some testing opposition. An early goal from James Byrne followed by some nice scores from Ed Campion, Emmett Doherty and Paddy Tighe saw Crokes into a 3 point half time lead. An excellent goal from Paddy Tighe early in the second half increased the distance between the teams. Crumlin narrowed the gap somewhat by converting a late penalty.  However Crokes ran out comfortable victors with a scoreline of 2-10 to 1-8. A fine attacking performance by all forwards was complemented by excellent midfield performances from Ciaran O’Callaghan and Simon Rouse. Man of the match on the day however was beyond doubt Mark Regan who won every ball that threatened the goal.
