Junior E's Make Championship Semi
Kilmacud Crokes Junior E’s marched on to a championship semi final spot against Realt Dearg with a convincing victory over Craobh Chiarain in Silverpark on Sunday afternoon 25th September 2011.
Crokes fielded a strong line up despite missing some regulars and quickly ran into an early 7 point lead. Ciaran McGrath stepped into centre forward on the day and was instrumental in creating many of the early scores. The team fielded on the day was one of the youngest the Junior E’s had seen for many a year and it was the youngsters Barry Horan and Justin Cassidy who made the most of some lax defending to score some nice early points. Crokes led at half time by 11 points to 2.
It was more of an even contest in the second half with the visitors having the advantage of a strong wind. Some injuries to the Crokes team disrupted their performance and Craobh Chiarain established themselves in the game albeit without registering anything significant on the scoreboard. The game was almost over when the visitors ran in two goals to make the scoreline respectable. The backs however had an excellent game keeping the opposition down to 3 points until the last few minutes. The final score on the day was a convincing 0-16 to 2-3. Overall it was an excellent team performance.
