Kilmacud Crokes are hosting a talk on Mental Health which is being Conducted by Shine (Supporting People effected by Mental Ill Health).

Shine has worked tirelessly to shape better policies and services for all those affected by mental health challenges. They are a huge support to individuals and groups to enhance/help and advise on their recovery, challenge negative attitudes and behaviours and deliver a variety of talks, programmes, services, enhancing awareness and support families/friends with people in their lives who suffer with mental health illness.

This talk is aimed at strengthening the knowledge and understanding of our Volunteers, Adult Players, Mentors and the wider community on some of the tell tale signs when someone is suffering with their mental health, advise on how to address it and support for people affected by mental health difficulties, including families, mentors etc Shine’s individual recovery planning and support utilises different evidence-based assessments and approaches based on the individuals need.

Core to Shine’s history and work is the provision of safe and recovery orientated community based peer support groups for individuals and family members. The purpose of these groups is to decrease isolation and stigma and increase individual’s feelings of connectedness, hope, identity, meaning and empowerment.

Shine are a charity, with this in mind we would ask attendees to please bring a voluntary donation of 5 Euro towards the charity, where possible!

This Talk will be hosted in the Function Room in Kilmacud Crokes at 7.50pm on Wednesday, 14th May.
