Report for Week ending 24 Sept 06

Weekend 23-24 September

One trophy, one final and three semi-finals made.  Not a bad outcome for one weekend.

First the trophy winners – our under 11 hurlers who defeated Ballyboden 3-4 to 1-1 in the final of a very competitive Cuala Tournament on Sunday 24th September 2004.  Congratulations to all involved.  On Saturday our under 10 hurlers took part in the Faughs Tournament and just lost out in the final to the hosts.

Moving up the ages, our under 18 hurlers had a marvellous 2-11 to 1-9 championship victory on Sunday morning over hotly fancied Cuala at a very “long grassed” Hyde Park.  Some tremendous harassing and teamwork was the catalyst, the reward for which is a semi-final spot.  The minor B’s travelled to Malahide to play St Sylvesters and went down 2-14 to 2-7 but with six points from four games are still very much un the semi-final hunt.

The previous day both the under 16A’s and B’s qualified for their championship semi –finals with victories over St Brigids 2-11 to 1-8 (the 2005 under 15 championship winners) and Whitehall Comlcilles (2-9 to 0-14, see separate report) respectively.

Also on Saturday in Silverpark the under 14A’s fought gamely before going down by three points to a very strong Ballyboden side in their championship semi final while the under 13’s loss away to Castleknock ended their championship involvement.  In Sunday league action both our under 15 A and B teams went down in away games to St Vincents.
