Gritty comeback by Junior B's against Faughs

Body

The Junior Bs recorded a one point win with a gritty comeback in an entertaining match against Faughs on Tuesday night, 27th May 2008, in Tymon Park North. Crokes ran into an early lead with points from Patrick Byrne and Adrian Crean. Two quick goals for the home team stopped Crokes early momentum but further points from Crean (three frees), Stephen Russell, Collie Maher and Conor Sheehan meant the sides went in to the break level at 2-2 to 0-8.

Faughs started the second half better and put over four early points. Thinks were looking bad for Crokes at that stage but with fifteen minutes to go Adrian Crean landed a fine free and soon afterwards Collie Maher rounded his man and set up Stephen Russell for a great goal to level the tie. Another Crean free put Crokes ahead with five minutes to go but a third Faughs goal looked to have snatched the game. Crokes we not finshed however, and a great point from Crean despite being fouled after a strong run brought it back to the minimum as injury time approached. Two late late points from Collie Maher, created by great passes in from Conor Sheehan and Pat Kennedy respectively, allowed Crokes steal the spoils and give a good deal of encouragement in advance of next week's must win championship game. Final score Kilmacud Crokes 1-13, Faughs 3-6.

Best for Crokes were Richie Tighe, James Byrne, Niall Hall, Ken Noctor, Conor Sheehan, Adrian Crean
