Inters In Last Four
Crokes qualified for the semi-final of the Intermediate Hurling Championship with a hard fought win against Naomh Barrog in Silverpark on Saturday 2nd October 2010. Conditions were good despite heavy rain in the afternoon that cleared up quite dramatically.
Crokes had the early initiative and Daibhi de Paor found the net after a goalkeeper error. A further two points from the same player put us in a good position. Naomh Barrog came more into the game and put over a few minors but a great goal from corner forward Jonathan Healy-Hayes left us seven clear. Then we gave away a few silly frees that closed the gap to 2-4 to 0-6 at half-time.
The second half was a dogged affair with scores hard to come by. Barrog were hurling well and it took great defensive work on our part to seal the game in the last ten minutes. Centre back Brian Hanamy was outstanding throughout and was ably supported by Declan Browne, Fergus Garvey and Aidan McCarthy. Sean Garvey was safe in goals Damien Byrne and Niall Mulligan worked hard in midfield. Up front Daibhi de Paor, Barry Mulligan and Conor Sheehan were impressive.
The semi-final against Kevins is scheduled for Saturday next 9th October 2010 in Kiltipper Road at 5.00pm.
Scorers for Crokes were Daibhi dePaor (1-5, f-4), Jonathan Healy-Hayes (1-0), Barry Mulligan 0-2, Declan Brown (0-1) and Conor Sheehan (0-1)
