Inters Win Promotion Decider

Kilmacud Crokes 3-13 –v- St Vincents 3-8

 

Crokes gained promotion to Senior B Hurling (AHL2) for 2012 with a hard fought win against a strong St Vincents side at Silverpark on Saturday evening 13th August 2011.  Going into this final regulation AHL3 game both teams were on level points in second and third places respectively.

 

On a dry overcast evening this was a very competitive game throughout.  At one stage in the first half the visitors were seven points clear.  An Alex Pilkington goal and Caolan Conway point narrowed the gap yet Vincents still led at half-time by 2-6 to 1-6 while playing with a slight wind advantage.

 

Crokes had a great second-half performance and finished on top on a scoreline of 3-13 to 3-8.  Andrew Hopkins and Niall Lillis starred in the back line.  Dillon Mulligan covered every inch of Silverpark and had a big influence on the game while up front Alex Pilkington was outstanding and scored 2-2.  Not far behind was young Caolan Conway.  Overall this was a very satisfactory performance.  Well done to all concerned

 

Scorers for Crokes were A Pilkington 2-2 (1f), C Conway 1-6 (3f), D Brown 0-2 (1f), D de Paor 0-2 (1f) and A Tiernan 0-1
