Under 10's : 3 Teams played Na Fianna

Team 1, managed by Sean and Tom

A beautiful day greeted the U10's on Saturday morning in Mobhi Road. The lads had a tough encounter against Na Fianna at U9 level so they knew they would be up against it today and by all accounts performed herocially. Midfield of Darragh Purcell, David Crowe and Cian Donnelly battled hard for possesion and got Crokes on the scoreboard early on. Up front Sean Delap tagged on a nice 65 and Ciaran Browne also got on the scoresheet after good pressure on the goalie. Michael Donnelly made a few fine saves in the first half, in particular a fine high catch that saved a certain goal. In the second half the defence of Cian O'Cathasaigh, Paraic Moran and Colm Roche all moved into attack and provided further impetus for the Crokes who finished with a comfortable victory.

Team 3 V Na Fianna managed by Frank

Na Fianna held off Crokes until the 10th minute when Owen O Flynn starting in his first match opened the scoring with an impressive goal (a player to watch). The puck out from Na Fianna was met by a strong midfield of Jake Brennan and Jack Sherry who were persistent and skilful in getting the ball to the forward line where Michael Cregg was well positioned to put by another goal.

However Na Fianna fought back to put two goals and then a point to bring us to half time trailing. Daniel Kearney gave some encouraging words during the half time team talk resulting in an early goal from Sam Horkan with a great run from half way to put Crokes back in the game.

Dara MacGahann moved to midfield and delivered a great score over the bar and was unlucky not to get a second which rebounded off the bar but was gathered by Gordan Lenihan and resulted in a great goal. The save of the day has to be awarded to Seamus O Donnell who was unflinching in his efforts to prevent Na Fianna scoring again.

The remaining five minutes was a success for our forward line of Patrick O Sulleabhain and Patrick Mc Cormack who put Cokes well ahead with a succession of carefully worked and delivered goals.

A great team effort with well worked and fair play attitude to their opposition at the end of game resulted in a well deserved win.

Team 2 also had a tough encounter but also came out with a victory in the end.
