Seniors Lose Out
On Wednesday night 5th May 2010 five Kilmacud Crokes hurling teams took the field.
Seniors
In their opening game in the 2010 championship the seniors lost out to Ballyboden at Pairc Ui Mhurchu by 2-23 to 1-15. At half time Boden led 0-14 to 0-5. The second half saw an improved performance from the Kilmacud team. With time almost up the margin was down to eight points but notwithstanding the best efforts of MacDara O’Hogain, Aodhan de Paor, Gary McMorrow and Donal McGovern the result was rarely in doubt. The task now for this young Crokes team is to learn from the experience and came out fighting in round 2 of the championship against Faughs in Silverpark on Saturday night 8th May 2010 (throw in 6.30pm)
Team: MacD O’Hogain, N Corcoran, A de Paor, A Grogan, R Walsh, Rory O’Carroll (0-2), G McMorrow, A Cleary (0-1), C Clinton (0-2), J Burke, S Gillen, B O’Rorke (0-1), F Armstrong (1-3, f1-1, 65-1), D McGovern (0-2), S McGrath (0-1). Subs: K O'Loughlin (0-2, 65-2) for S Gillen (37 mins), N Lillis for B O'Rorke (43 mins), J Doughan (0-1) for K O'Loughlin (54 mins, inj) and H Gannon for C Clinton (57 mins).

Intermediates/Junior A's
The intermediates defeated Commercials at Rathcoole by 0-16 to 1-10. The Stillorgan outfit seem well in charge coming up to the break but were rocked back on their heels by the concession of a goal three minutes into injury time to make it 0-11 to 1-4.
The second half was an evenly contested affair but the Rathcoole men could not decisively bridge the gap and Crokes made it a maximum four points from two games so far in the championship. To the fore were Damien Byrne, Eoin de Paor, Barry Mulligan, Darren McVeigh and the full forward trio of Bill O’Carroll, Daibhi de Paor and Alan Carr
Team: R Tighe, S McNicholas, F Garvey, D Byrne, R Mangan, B Hanamy, E de Paor, B Mulligan (0-4, f-2, 65-1), N Mulligan, B O’Leidhin (0-1), A Tiernan, D McVeigh (0-3), B O’Carroll (0-2), D de Paor (05, f-2), A Carr (0-1). Sub: L Cantwell for N Mulligan.
Junior A's
The Junior A's overcame Castleknock 2-16 to 2-12 at Silverpark. This was a game in which Crokes went six points clear in the opening ten minutes of each half and were reeled in. With seven minutes left the visitors went a point clear. An Adrian Crean goal put the Kilmacud team back in front. Castleknock drew level before three points from play and a free all from the stick of Dara Burke, who accounted for twelve white flags on the night, sealed the deal. Others to play well for the winners included Aidan McCarthy, Conor Sheehan and early substitute Conor Caulfield for the unfortunate Eoin Murphy.
Team: S Garvey, P Ryan, D Canny, C O’Keeffe, B Brennan, JR Hunt, A McCarthy, J Walsh, C Sheehan, G Geoghegan, E Murphy, D Burke, J Healy-Hayes, T O’Sullivan, A Crean. Sub C Caulfield for E Murphy (10 mins inj)
U14B's and U12
The under 14B's continued their Feile preparations with an away challenge against a combined under14/15 Rathoath, Co Meath team. The RoyalCounty boys proved too strong in spite of the best efforts of a game Crokes side for which Andrew McGowan, Andrew Ahern, Killian Fleming, Paul Comerford and Andrew Porter shone brightest.
Squad:
K Fleming, C Montague, R Geraghty, M Redmond, S O’Hurley, A McGowan, A Ahern, R Couse, S Rizvi, F Whitely, N Sweeny, K Culligan, J Egan, P Comerford, A Tuck, H Barry, S Vallom, A Porter and D Bohan. The under 12’s were unable to match a strong Na Fianna side in an away league Division 1 clash. Peter O'Reilly in goal, together with Ronan Hayes, Neil Mooney and Dara Kennedy in a hard pressed defence were best for the Kilmacud boys.
