Week Ending 13th March 2011
Saturday
Silverpark 1 hosted two home league games on Saturday 12th March 2011 with facile wins accruing. Starting at 12.30, the minor B’s totally outclassed O’Tooles. By the fourth minute Neil Gorey had pointed and goaled. Ten minutes later it was 1-4 to 0-1 when the O’Tooles centre back was red carded. It didn’t get better for the Larriers, ending 5-15 to 2-4 (half time 3-7 to 0-2) with Crokes guilty of spurning several chances. From a game where everyone shone it was difficult to pick some over others. If pushed we’d highlight the contributions of Andrew Colclough, Oisin O’Carroll, Niall Hanley, Fionan Motherway, Barry Horan, Louis O’Sullivan and Neil Gorey.
Team (13 a side): M Herlihy, J Murphy, A Colclough, O O’Carroll, D Corish, M Collins, C Gormley (0-2), N Hanley (0-2, f-1), L O’Sullivan (0-2), B Horan (1-2), F Motherway (1-3), N Gorey (2-4, f 1-2), Conor O’Dwyer (1-0). Sub A Ahern for B Horan (blood), A Ahern for C O’Dwyer

There were noteworthy performances from Conor McNicholas, Johnny Maher, Chris Kealy, Stevie O’Dwyer, Fergal Whitely and Lorcan Tucker.

Their B counterparts went to Balheary to play Fingallians in Division 2 where a whirlwind opening half put the Swords boys out of sight. Crokes put in a much better second shift before going down 6-3 to 0-4. Ciaran Hennessy, Louis de Courcy, Aidan Healy and Adam Tuck all did well.
The under 16’s travelled to Martin Savage Park for a first division clash with Oliver Plunketts/Eoghan Ruadh and came away with the points on a 2-10 to 0-9 margin. Leath am had it 1-5 to 0-4. The northsiders upped their game in the second period. To the fore for the winners were Cian MacGabhann, Odhran O’Siochru, Ronan Horgan and Sean Bedford.

Sunday
The minor A’s shared the Division 1 spoils with Lucan at Pairc de Burca on a cold Sunday morning 13th March 2011. After fifteen minutes Crokes seemed to have gone into a commanding lead. From then on the game swung the other way. At half time the home team held a 2-4 to 1-4 advantage. In the second installment the lead changed on a number of occasions and the Stillorgan lads did enough to retrieve a draw, 3-8 apiece. Best for Crokes were Barry Horan, Emmet Doherty, Robert Murphy, Conor Devins and goalkeeper Paddy Tighe.
Team: P Tighe, C Devins (0-1), R Murphy, D Corish, J Clinton, E Doherty, C Gormley, M Geraghty, C O’Neill, K Kelly (0-4, f-3), C Conway, B Horan (2-0), O O’Rorke (1-0), J Cassidy (0-1), A Pilkington (0-2). Subs: N Carr for C O’Neill, N Gorey for C Conway.
At under 15A the club’s 2011 opener in the first division was away to the same opposition at 12th Lock where the full points compliment was garnered, 1-16 to 1-10. It was closer at the break with Crokes two points to the good, 1-6 to 0-7. Tadgh Murphy, Sean Keating and Mark McCallion were in outstanding form. The under 15B’s Division 3 assignment with Oliver Plunketts/Eoghan Ruadh was postponed due to a bereavement in the Navan Road club.
On the road were two teams. In the second round of the Leinster League Crokes faced Kilkenny opposition for the second week in a row, away to Castlecomer. The Kilmacud side trailed by three points after thirty minutes, (2-6 to 1-6) not helped by conceding a rapid 2-2 in middle of the half. An excellent second period turned the game round to produce a well merited 4-13 to 2-9 win. The entire squad contributed handsomely and while it is difficult to single out any, Edward Campion particularly shone. Not far behind were Mark O’Loughlin, Odhran O’Siochru and Dylan Paisley who marked his display with an exceptional second half point.
Team: Killian Fleming, Sean Bedford, Odhran O’Siochru, Gregory Buckley, Ciaran McIntyre, Donnchadha O’Murchu, Cathal Keane-Breslin, Edward Campion, Michael, O’Dwyer, Dara O’Gallchobhair, Donal Keane, Dara Mullin, Paul Casey, Mark O’Loughlin, Dylan Paisley.
