Well done to the Cranky Crokes who represented the club at the annual Joe McNally Masters 7s at the weekend. Despite the inclement weather conditions there was a great turnout of over 40s from all over the country. Over 270 players took to the field with a combined experience in excess of 12,000 years on a day not conducive to attractive football!

Drawn in the “Group of Death” with last year’s finalists, the finalists from the Erin’s Isle tournament and the eventual losing finalists this year, The Crankies arrived more in hope than any big expectations, with a few Crankies realizing that the Paddock on a Friday (7.45!) is as good as it gets. The Crankies approached all games with enthusiasm and were fully committed and competitive the end, coming out the wrong end of a couple of one point matches. They brought their best and demonstrated true sportsmanship and played in the spirit expected, with good banter between the competing clubs.

The post match debriefs started a bit earlier than planned and carried on longer than expected in the clubhouse of St Annes and en route back to the club. Thanks to St Annes who were brilliant hosts to possibly the oldest team in the competition.
