Santa brings lots of joy to Crokes!
On Saturday, 13th December, SANTA dropped in from the skies in his helicopter to visit the super boys from our football & Hurling nursery. Over 280 boys and as many parents turned out to see the big man on a cold but dry winter’s day.
The boys arrived early to ensure they didn’t miss out and signed in at joint registration desks before going onto the field to play mixed games while they waited for the big moment. Then when the first sounds of the chopper were heard we all moved off the pitch and watched our hero land safely. Santa was greeted with warm applause and moved into his grotto in the club house. The kids were then transferred in excited groups of 20 to see the man himself and receive a little gift as a foretaste of what might arrive on the 25th. Santa assured all the boys that they had behaved very well in 2008 and that their club was very proud of their performances and efforts at both football and hurling!!
As usual, many thanks to all of the mentors for their efforts in running this and a particular thanks to Laura Thornton for leading the way, John Shovlin’s inside info on santa’s air service, Fiona and Ken for maintaining law and order in the grotto and Ann Marie and all the ladies who performed their “santa’s helpers” tasks so well!
And of course we must offer a very BIG thanks to the big man himself, for taking time out to come and visit at this very busy time of the year!
