Under 9' Winter Mini-League Finals Night
The U9 Hurlers rounded off the year with some great hurling on the final night of the winter mini-leagues held at St Kilians last Thursday. The mini-leagues have proven to be very popular with the boys with some 35 to 40 boys turning out each Thursday over an 8-week period. On the night, both finals proved very close affairs with the Ulster Greens just edging out the Leinster Blues and The Muster Reds narrowly defeating the Connaught Blacks. However, no-one went home disappointed as there was a small prize of a new sliotar and a Crokes hurling grip for each hurler – a big thanks to the Coiste committee for this generous gesture. As usual, many thanks to the mentors Ed, Joan, Joe and Tony for all their efforts over the course of the mini-leagues. Our gratitude also to the numerous parents who “managed” the teams and especially to Peter Kenny and Eamon Keating who were brave enough to referee some games and to Eamonn Murray on his assistance in setting up each week. Lastly, special thanks must go to Liam Coughlan for the valuable coaching provided to the U9’s prior to the matches each Thursday and for the supply of the fantastic photographs of the finals night.
We look forward to seeing everybody in 2009. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
