Match Report: It was an epic day for Gonzaga College as they played their inaugural hurling match against Colaiste Eoin. The day was fine and there were perfect conditions for a hurling match. The game began at 2 o’clock and within the first two minutes the centre forward Matthew Geraghty was in for a goal. This was followed up with an avalanche of points and three goals from Tomás Barry, Eoin Prendergast and Ciarán O’Brien. Coláiste Eoin could only return 1 point to Gonzaga’s 4-8 and this was how the half ended. A number of tactical substitutions were made throughout the match one such change was to change the goalkeeper over 3 times. Conor Mc Keon scored an absolute screamer of a goal from the halfway line. Coláiste Eoin came into the match in the second half and put in 2-3 against a tough defence. Gonzaga however finished the match strong with scores from Michael Herlihy and Eoin Prendergast. The match finished 5-12 to 2-4 in favour of Gonzaga.
