 U14B Hurling – Busy Weekend

On Friday evening 23rd April, at Pairc De Burca, in ideal hurling conditions the u14B’s hosted Liam Mellows/Casteltown of Wexford in a keenly contested game. Crokes led by the minimum at half-time on a score of 1-3 to 1-2 before running out comfortable winners with the full time score 6-7 to 1-4. This was an excellent all round team performance. Special mention on the night to Cillian Fleming, Cian Fahy, Richard Couse & the high scoring Paul Comerford. There were strong showings also from Hubert Barry & goal scorer Colin Smyth. Congrats to Andrew Aherne who acquitted himself very well on his 1st outing for Crokes.

PANEL: Cillian Fleming, Cian Montague, Ruairi Geraghty, John Egan, Andrew Porter, Andrew McGowan, Cian Fahy, Adam Tuck, Richard Couse, Kevin Culligan, Stephen O’Hurley, Andrew Aherne, Colin Smyth, Paul Comerford, Hubert Barry & Robert Cahill.

Saturday 24th saw the team travel to Erins Isle – loosing out by 1-11 to 1-8 having trailed at half time by the minimum on a score of 1-3 to 1-2. This was an excellent outing for the team and despite suffering a couple of injuries on the day the boys competed very well. Particular mention goes to Stephen Barr for making a special effort to be there on the day. Ross Finnegan netted in the 1st half and Paul Comerford kept the scoreboard ticking over from both play & frees throughout. Cian Montague at corner back, Shane Vallom at wing forward along with Andrew McGowan at centre-back & Richard Couse in the middle of the park performed very strongly on the day. The game was played in an excellent spirit and both teams are looking forward to locking horns in Feile in a few weeks time. We wish a speedy recovery to Matt Redmond and Stephen O’Hurley who picked up injuries on the day.
