Gonzaga school Blitz makes History
Friday 21st May 2010 saw a little bit of history created in one of the club’s feeder schools when the first ever competitive hurling game was played in Gonzaga College with the team being the first to sport specially designed school hurling jerseys. This was the opening match against Templeogue College in a first year blitz. Gonzaga, with eight Crokes players on board, including four starters from the previous Sunday’s A Feile win, won 1-6 to 0-1. In the next game Terenure College overcame Templeogue (2-4 to 0-2) to set up a final against the hosts. Notwithstanding a strong revival, the concession of early scores proved too difficult an obstacle to overcome as the Dublin 6W team prevailed 2-10 to 2-3.
