U15B’s Record Win over Dal Cais

Body

On a beautiful evening for Hurling our 15B’s welcomed Dal Cais (an amalgamation of Round Towers Lusk, O’Dwyer’s Balbriggan and Fingallians) to SilverPark for this Division 3 league encounter. The visitors traveled under-strength with the minimum permitted number and thus an 11-a-side game ensued.

Space was plentiful and although Crokes dominated possession in the early stages, it did not convert automatically to the scores. After a number of early wides by the home side Paul Comerford with 3 minors and Ronan Kennedy with another white flag got the scoreboard ticking over. Niall Sweeney goaled after good work and Adam ONeill added 2 points before Dal Cais scored a good goal – followed immediately by a long range Dal Cais free which evaded all to nestle in the corner of the net. Midfielder Richie Couse added a point before Ronan Kennedy&Niall Sweeney added goals to leave the HT score at KC 3-7 Dal Cais 2-2.

The second half saw changes a plenty with all subs contributing very well. An excellent point by Andrew Liffey, a second midfield point by Richard Couse, 2 points from Adam O’Neill and 1-2 by Paul Comerford were the precursor to a starring substitute appearance by Donal Gaughran who netted 2 goals (to great sideline acclaim led by chief cheer leader RK) and staking a claim to make the full forward berth his own!

This was a game that never really ignited with Crokes running out victors on a score of 6-13 to 3-4. Top performers for the hosts on the night were Andrew Ahern, Niall Sweeney, Matt Redmond & Adam O'Neill. There will be tougher challenges ahead and this was a case of job done.
