U15s beat Thomas Davis in shield final
On a dull, misty and sometimes wet morning in Kiltipper Road, the U15s took on Thomas Davis in a rather one-sided shield Final.
From the throw-in it was clear Crokes were likely to dominate, and so it transpired. However, in the opening quarter an abundance of chances were wasted, with many shots wide of the target. First points came from Mark O'Loughlin and Ciaran McIntyre. Three pointed frees then ensued (Mark O'Loughlin and Cian McGabhann). While the home side had some shots, none registered. A nice point from the wing by Ciaran McIntyre and a lovely goal by Mark O'Loughlin followed a single free sent over by the home side.
Half time score: Kilmacud Crokes 1-08, Thomas Davis 0-01.
Crokes stepped up a gear in the second half but Davis scored first and tried to pressurise the Crokes backs. However, Crokes netted to pull further ahead. Despite a home point Crokes assualt continued, with further goals from Ryan Conlon and Mark O'Loughlin. Points by Cian MacGabhann and Michael O Dwyer came either side of a Thos Davis over. in the end victory was never in doubt; Crokes winning 4-12 to 0-04.
