Under14A's League Win Over Faughs
Body
The newly crowned Dublin Feile champions resumed their League campaign with a good win over Faughs in Silverpark on Thursday 27th May. Crokes opened against the wind and were soon under pressure from an energetic and motivated Faughs team who were dominating the central positions. The concession of a goal after about 15 minutes seemed to spur the Crokes boys into action and it was Crokes who dominated the 2nd quarter of the half. Good defensive work from the full back line allied to strong performances from Des Dagg and Michael Crowley ensured that Crokes remained in touch and when midfielder Francis O'Reilly struck for a quickfire 1.01 it enabled Crokes to take a comfortable lead into the half-time break. Playing with the wind for the second half, Crokes mentors made a number of positional switches and changes which had the desired impact. With Peter Herlihy securing more and more possession in the half forward line, Crokes began to dominate proceedings. Second half substitute Conor Gowing did most to reflect this dominance on the scoreboard with a goal and 3 points in a 15 minute spell. In the end Crokes ran out convincing winners on a scoreline of 3.16 to 2.06. Overall a somewhat flattering scoreline with a number of close shaves in the 2nd half. Goalkeeper Tadgh Murphy carried out his housekeeping duties with aplomb and made a number of good saves. He was ably assisted by wingbacks Cillian O'Shea and Des Dagg. Midfielder Francis O'Reilly contributed on the scoreboard and strengthened the defence when he went back there in the 2nd half. Michael Crowley was the pick of the forward which were boosted by strong contributions from 2nd half substitutes Peter Herlihy and Conor Gowing
