U10s match report Sat. 25th Feb

It was the first weekend of the Hurling Go Games for both of our U10 panels. Panel A were playing at home against Ballyboden and Panel B travelled up the road to Ballinteer St. Johns.

Panel A had a squad of 30 players split into 3 teams all of which excelled on the day.

Team 1 was managed by Conor and had a fantastic ding-dong battle with a strong Ballyboden side. Boden came out of the traps very quickley and got a few early goals as the Crokes defensive marking was a bit untidy. Crokes were struggling to get scores on the board and we were 3 points down at half-time but as the game wore on the Crokes boys came to the fore. A great defensive performance was given by Dara MacGabhann, Freddie Fitzpatrick and Jack Tiernan with some very accurate puck outs from Shane Ryall in goals. A man of the match performance by Mark Murphy in midfield as well as some great skill points from Seamus O'Donnell and Mikey Marren. Ronan O'Reilly, Daire McNulty and Michael Egan put some great work in on the forward line. Crokes won out by a point in the end with a fine 65 from Cian O'Cathasaigh, final score 12-11.

Panel B team 2 took on Ballyboden in Deerpark managed by Frank and Tom.

Padraic Moran, Colm Roche and Michael Cregg started in defence and did an outstanding job in not letting in any goals. In midfield Daragh Purcell and Cian Donnelly fed the ball to their forward line of Michael Donnelly, Luc O Gorman and Liam Smyth who put the team well ahead with constant scores over the bar.

Second half took Jake Brennan out of goals to maintain the strong midfield, while Daragh and the Donnelly brothers played outstanding in midfield to give a clear victory. The use of the short hand pass by Killmacud was applauded by the Ballybodens manager, (a fitting compliment).Constant communication by the players and position play was a great start to the hurling year. Final score 46-6.

Panel B team 1 had a great match against a very good Ballyboden side in Deerpark on Saturday 25 February. It was a close encounter with solid performances from Pado Gibbons, Michael Nealon, Gordon Lenehan and Luke Gilleran in defence. David Crowe put in a man of the match performance in Midfield with determined play and 4 points - Joseph Neary also in midfield caught a couple of excellent balls.
Up front Eoghan Murphy, Sean Delap, Patrick O'Suilleabhain played well creating opportunities. Dan Kearney showed confidence in front of goals scoring twice in the second half.
More work to be done by the boys at training but it was a good start to the season - the team was managed by Sean and Michael. Final score 19 points to 18.

Lovely sunshine greeted the Kilmacud Crokes Panel A team on thier first outing in 2012. 3 Teams took to the field and hurled brillantly.

Team 1 was managed by Daragh O'Mahony and they hurled out of their skins winning skill points for blocking, catching and hooking as well scoring the traditional goals and points. Conor Crumlish, Rory O'Mahony.Brian Hayes all made vital contributions. The man of the match however was Charlie Owens who bossed the game. They won by 29 points to 19. The game was actually closer than the score-line suggests.

Team 2 was managed by Martin Byrne and his charges hurled fantastically by hooking, blocking and sorrounding the opponents when they had the ball. Mathew Byrne was man of the match at centre-back. Conn Lohan and Noaise Golden in the forward line were brillant. The ran out as winners with a score of 19 points to 4.

Team 3 was managed by Maurice Kelly and they won out easy winners with a man of the match performance by Mark Mulvey. Tomas Monaghan and Jack Reddy gave powerful performances. The final score was 9 points to 2.
