U11’s kick start the 2010 Juvenile Autumn Hurling Festival

The 2010 Juvenile Autumn Hurling Festival began yesterday with the Under 11’s up first in what turned out to be a great day’s hurling at a sun splashed Pairc de Burca.

Teams from Athenry, Fermoy, Na Fianna, O’Loughlin Gaels , Portumna and Toomevara competed with two Crokes teams and the tournament was blessedwith some wonderful competitive and skilful hurling from the young players over the course of the afternoon. There were a number of very close and exciting matches and it was O’Loughlin Gaels from Kilkenny who eventually emerged as overall winners after a hard fought final with Toomevara.

There were a number of outstanding performances from Crokes players and both teams will have benefited greatly from competing against such high quality opposition during the day.

We would like to thank all the teams, their mentors and parents for participating on the day and from a Crokes perspective, a big thanks to the parents and mentors of the U11s who provided fantastic support and assistance to help ensure it was a memorable day for the boys.

A special mention and thanks to Joan Bezeci for coordinating the catering arrangements and to Liam Coughlan for his trojan work up to and on the day of the tournament itself.
