U12's stay top!

KC1 U12s made it 2 wins out of 2 in the cup competition with an impressive 7-5 to 1-2 win over their clubmates, KC2, on Saturday. The win was sealed by an excellent 1st half display while playing into a strong wind. Alex Considine once again led the attack and scored 3-2 in the opening half. Adam Tuck chipped in with 2 goals while Stevie O'Dwyer popped over a point. KC2 disappointed in the first half and could only manage 1-1 through Cathal Keane.
Thankfully KC2 woke from their slumber at half time and the second half was a far closer affair. It was always going to be too big a task to pull back such a lead into the wind but it was heartening that they kept plugging away and although they conceded another 2-5 (Cillian Fleming 2-1, Alex Considine 0-3) to 0-1 (Cathal Keane) scored they walked off with their pride intact. Best performers for the winners were Tom Fox, Alex Considine, Stevie O'Dwyer and Darragh Butler while Conor O'Dwyer, Stephen McEntee and Cathal Keane tried hardest for the losing team. The KC1 team march on and stay joint top of division 1 with Na Fianna.

B's have a game of the proverbial two halves!

Team: Lorcan Rooney, Tom Bruen, Daniel Dowling, Joe Leddy, Ciaran Hennessey, Mark O’Rourke, Khalil Siegrist, Michael Frawley, John Maher, Conor Walsh, Jean de Baillencourt, Sean Gorman, Conor McNicholas. (Brian from Ballyboden to make up 14-a-side).

This was a game of two halves – and we will pass quickly over the first half when Crokes players refused to hold their positions and piled down the hill in attack after fruitless attack – Ballyboden defended stoutly and caught us on the break several times to lead 1-3 to no score at the break. Some serious words and a reorganisation lead to a heartening transformation in the second half.

Lorcan moved into goal and performed solidly with a series of excellent puck-outs picking out unmarked players on the wings. Mark O’Rourke moved out to centre back and dominated his line with powerful ball carrying and a supply of good ball into the forwards. On his flanks Ciaran and Khalil buzzed around like wasps and killed off any Ballyboden momentum. Daniel and Tom blocked and moved the ball early on the ground from the full back line. At midfield Michael and Joe got well on top with some committed hurling - again moving the ball on the ground when appropriate. Freed from his defensive duties of the first half Conor Walsh revelled in space at centre forward to score 3-1. Conor Mc Nicholas and John Maher on the wings covered good ground and won plenty of ball which the largely moved into the inside line. Sean Gorman held his position well on the edge of the square and took a neat goal near the end to put the match beyond doubt. In the corners Jean and Brian made things difficult for their markers and Brian was also rewarded with a goal.

With a (very) late soft goal Ballyboden came back to within a couple of points but the final count was (about) Ballyboden 4-3 , Kilmacud 5-2.
