On Saturday afternoon, 14th March 2009, in Silverpark, a strong central spine of Fergus Garvey, Declan Browne, Conor Sheehan, John Ross Hunt and Donal McGovern guided Crokes to a 5-8 to 3-8 Corn Ceitinn win over a Setanta.
Everybody will be familiar with the new Hurling Arena in Glenalbyn. This was built at a cost of €500,000 and is a huge addition to hurling in the club. It has been entirely funded by the Hurling Section and we still have some way to go.
Sunday morning, 1st March 2009, produced a two out of three return at Silverpark with wins for the minor A’s and under 16’s, both over Na Fianna, and defeat against Lucan Sarsfields for the minor B’s.
Wexford All-Ireland winner Ger Cushe has been appointed the new Kilmacud Crokes senior hurling manager.
Skills were assessed by counting the number of times a player could strike a ball off the hurling wall in 1 minute. Players must strike the ball from behind a 10 metre line on all attempts. Each player gets 5 attempts ( so 5 minutes in total).
DUBLIN 2-21 GALWAY 0-15
The Crumlin man had a long and illustrious involvement in hurling in the capital. He was involved in successful Dublin minor hurling teams from the mid-60s, in 1983 and again this decade. Jimmy was The Friends of Dublin Hurling inaugural Hall of Fame recipient in 2007.
